Newbiggin by the Sea - Easter 2015

Our client, the Newbiggin Portas Town Team – wanted to kick off the 2015 summer season with a big event bringing thousands of people into the historic centre of this little seaside town and creating a high quality, high volume trading weekend for local businesses.

Happening up North created a three day festival of music, dance, shopping, eating, vintage vehicles and costume that celebrated the town’s history as Newcastle’s favourite destination as a seaside day out.

So many visitors came to enjoy the celebrations (Police estimate over 10,000) that the town sold out of ice cream in the glorious Easter sunshine, pubs had to order emergency beer deliveries and local café owners reported their best ever day’s trading.

The client reported that the events and publicity campaign provided the town with the best and most sustained positive publicity that Newbiggin had ever seen and were delighted to gain airtime support from both BBC Radio Newcastle and the local news programme Look North.

“It was a great event, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended - for Newbiggin to run out of ice-cream .... Amazing!” Active Northumberland

“It was a great event, well organised, well attended and a definite benefit to my business. If asked I would have no hesitation in returning again for a similar event.” Slater’s Fun Fair

“Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the crowds putting Newbiggin on the seaside visiting map.” Elaine’s Hats
