Rothbury is a town that likes to party. The community of the Coquet Valley join together for a series of annual events such as a food and craft festival, a street fair, a traditional music festival and a Christmas festival.
To this list we are now adding an open air party to celebrate the official 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is patron of the parish of Rothbury and Upper Coquetdale and the valley is no stranger to Royal visits - so this is an event that people are actively looking forward to celebrating.
So we are inviting street food traders join us for what is going to be a brilliant evening of laughter, music, celebration and – most importantly – delicious food. Rothbury is full of pubs and cafes all of whom cater for traditional country menus but there is a real need for high quality, interesting food in the area. It is something people are constantly asking for. We know there is a ready and untapped market here for delicious street food menus.
The plan is for a children’s traditional street party in the afternoon with a picnic tea Book Your Tickets Here , games, fair rides and a best crown competition. All of which is to be a warm up act for the all-comers party in the evening.
The village’s market square will be closed to traffic and a series of bands (including a brass concert band and a highland pipe band) and local musicians will entertain the crowds. The village pubs will provide drinks and the street food traders are invited to sell their delicious food.
All 2,000 households in the valley will be individually invited and a press campaign will publicise the event further. The Northumberland Gazette has already been secured as a media partner to the event and BBC Newcastle is showing a great deal of interest.
